Role Overview

NHS Digital is recruiting an experienced professional for a permanent, full-time position based in London, United Kingdom. Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain national-scale healthcare APIs serving 60M+ patients
• Develop secure microservices in Java 21, Spring Boot, Kotlin and Node.js
• Deploy on AWS (EKS, RDS, Lambda) with full Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
• Implement HL7 FHIR R4 integrations for electronic patient records
• Champion test-driven development, code reviews and pair programming
• Ensure NHS Cyber Essentials Plus and DSPT compliance
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal engineering guild
• Participate in on-call rotation for tier-1 clinical services

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited university in a relevant discipline
• 5+ years of demonstrable post-qualification experience in a similar role
• Fluent professional English (IELTS 6.5+ or equivalent); local-language skills a plus
• Clean police clearance certificate (PCC) from country of residence (last 5 years)
• Valid passport with minimum 24 months validity at time of joining
• Eligibility for the Skilled Worker Visa (Tier 2) with Certificate of Sponsorship as per published government criteria
